STRENGTHENING PAKISTAN’S EXTERNAL FLANKS AND ITS IMPLICATIONS / LINKAGES WITH INTERNAL SECURITY SITUATION, CHALLENGES AND WAY FORWARD – 18 OCTOBER 2021
Mr. Moeed Wasim Yousuf, National Security Advisor educated the student officers on various strands of National Security of Pakistan. He commenced his talk by highlighting certain theoretical aspects of Comprehensive National Security and broad contours of Pakistan’s threat mosaic. While establishing linkage of external security challenges with internal security, he deliberated upon emerging global / regional geo-political environment, great power competition and Pakistan’s significance / place in the future strategic calculus. Thereafter, he explained the strands of Pakistan’s National Security Policy primarily focusing on geo-economic paradigm to be manifested through enhanced connectivity and developing positive interdependence. He also dwelled upon various aspects concerning security of “Common Pakistani” to include population growth, climate change, education and water / energy security. In the end, he emphasized the significance of whole of nation approach to combat Hybrid Warfare challenges. The talk was followed by an interactive Question and Answer session
