Doctor Ishrat Hussain educated student officers on role and performance of state institutions and their impact on security ofPakistan. He briefly introduced the concept of good governance and role of state apparatus / institutions in its manifestation. He highlighted certain expectations from national institutions in statecraft and shortfalls observed therein. Based on his research and historical record, he explained the reasons of gradual decay of certain state institutions and implications of their weak performance on governance and deliverance of good services. In the end, he suggested few broad measures to revamp performance of state institutions in order to address economic and security concerns of the country.
