Lieutenant General Faiz Hamid, Hilal-i-Imtiaz (Military) delivered a lecture on ‘Security Situation in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) with focus on 11 Corps Operations in a Hybrid Threat Environment’. He initiated his talk by giving an overview of geo-political and domestic environment and its implications on socio-economic and security milieu of the country. After giving an insight on geography and demography of KP, he explained the history, causes and prevailing dynamics of the conflict in the province with focus on erstwhile FATA. Thereafter, he briefly discussed the strategic and operational framework of drive against terrorism and effects achieved to include establishment of writ of state, elimination of No Go Areas and defeating terrorists’ ideology. He also deliberated upon current dimensions of threat and its connections with overall security mosaic of the country. After identifying major voids in response over years, he gave out the cardinals of a comprehensive response framework, with intelligence, security and stability support operations, perception management and socio economic normalization at its heart. In the end, he highlighted certain key lessons of the campaign and suggested a way forward for junior leaders to achieve success in Sub-Conventional Warfare under hybrid environments.
