Lieutenant General Hidayat Ur Rehman, Hilal-i-Imtiaz (Military) (Retired) is a seasoned veteran who led Counter Terrorism Operations in erstwhile FATA. He delivered a talk to the students on ‘Challenges of Command and Leadership while undertaking Counter Terrorism Efforts’. He set the perspective by giving an overview of the environment and challenges faced by the country in the aftermath of Global War on Terror (GWOT). He explained the contours of Pakistan’s Counter Terrorism efforts and factors that contributed towards its success primarily through adoption of ‘Whole of a Nation Approach’. Thereafter, he highlighted the role of strategic leadership in conduct of operations and leadership challenges faced therein. In the end, he identified and emphasized on certain leadership qualities/ traits to mitigate these challenges. Talk was followed by an interactive Questions and Answers session.
