EMOTIONAL INTELLIGENCE AND MANAGEMENT

Lieutenant General Nigar Johar, Tamgha-i-Imtiaz (Military)has an illustrious career in the Army Medical Corps spanning almost three decades with a rich and diverse experience in management and leadership appointments in the Armed Forces. She delivered a talk on theoretical and conceptual aspects of emotional intelligence (EI) and its relationship with management in the current environment. She explained as to how EI comes into play in profession and the ways to guard against negative emotions and feelings while making decisions. She deliberated upon how presence of EI contributes towards improvement in output of an organization while its absence affects the judgment and fair play. She emphasized on importance of self / social awareness and self / social relationship management for improving EI. At the end, she related the EI with Islamic concepts and the prevailing COVID 19 environment. She kept students engaged during the talk and candidly answered their questions in the Q & A session.
