Lieutenant General Aamir Riaz, Hilal-i-Imtiaz (Military), (Retired) delivered a talk on the Evolution of Pakistan’s Military Thought. He opened his talk by setting a framework for defining strategic thought, of which military thought is a component. Thereafter, he dilated upon certain influences which shape the strategic thought alongwith historical context of its connections with evolution of mil thought process in India and Pakistan. He also discussed the impact of Indian mil thought on evolution of Pakistan Army’s concepts, doctrines and their efficacy. In the end, he deliberated on impact of nuclear, sub-conventional and hybrid warfare dimensions on Pakistan’s military thought and certain future projections / challenges. Talk was followed by an interactive Questions and Answers session.
